”Culture can not be inherited. The culture of our ancestors evaporates quickly, unless every generation obtains it for itself again, and again.” – Zoltán Kodály, Hungarian composer
Ethnographers and historians the world over have analyzed thousands of pieces of Hungarian folk art in an effort to transcribe how, when and why they were used. However, handicraft itesm were not meant to be confined in glass cabinets, assigned with an impersonal inventory number for the rest of their lives.
Our mission at Folkology is to liberate these items by rediscovering their design, colors, motifs and style. Not only that, but we bring them to you, so you can use them in your own craft adventures, or simply marvel at their beauty in your own home. Join us in rescueing part of this old-world European charm.
